JOB TITLE: Excavator Operator

LOCATION: Santa Fe, Texas 77510
PAY: $19/hr.
SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm / Saturday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate excavators and related heavy equipment to move, load, sort, and process scrap metal and recyclable materials within the yard.
Perform safe and precise handling of materials to avoid contamination, equipment damage, or injury.
Conduct daily equipment inspections, including fluid levels, hydraulic systems, tracks, and safety controls.
Identify and report mechanical issues or maintenance needs to supervisors immediately.
Follow all site safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental compliance standards.
Assist with loading/unloading trucks, stockpiling materials, and maintaining organized work areas.
Communicate with scale house, supervisors, and ground personnel to coordinate material flow.
Support general yard operations as needed, including cleanup, debris removal, and equipment staging.
Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, inspections, and any incidents.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum 2 years of experience operating excavators and similar heavy equipment (material handler, loader, skid steer).
Experience working in scrap metal, recycling, construction, or industrial yard environments preferred.
Strong understanding of equipment safety, blind spots, and safe material‑handling practices.
Ability to read and follow instructions, yard maps, and safety guidelines.
Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks as needed.
Reliable attendance and strong communication skills.
Ability to pass background check and drug test.
