LOCATION: Houston, Texas 77015
SCHEDULE: 6 am – 3:30 pm (Mon-Fri), 6 am – 12 pm (Sat)
PAY: $16/hr.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate gas‑fueled cutting torches (oxy‑acetylene or oxy‑fuel systems) to cut, trim, or shape metal components according to production specifications.
Interpret blueprints, cut lists, and fabrication drawings to determine cutting paths, tolerances, and material requirements.
Set up torch equipment, including regulators, hoses, tips, and gas cylinders, ensuring proper pressure settings and leak‑free connections.
Perform straight cuts, bevel cuts, pierces, and contour cuts on steel plate, tubing, and structural components.
Measure and mark materials using squares, gauges, and templates to ensure accurate cutting.
Monitor flame characteristics and adjust gas flow to maintain clean, precise cuts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience operating oxy‑fuel or gas‑torch cutting equipment in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment.
Experience operating the sit-down forklift.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and cut lists.
Knowledge of metal types, thicknesses, and how they respond to heat and cutting processes.
Familiarity with basic math and measurement tools used in fabrication.
Understanding of hot‑work permits, fire‑watch requirements, and safe handling of compressed gases.
